What a beautiful Sunday! The weather can change so fast. Last Tuesday was such a sweltering day and Thursday was not much better. I took advantage of the coolness at the Community Center and ate my noon meals there. I then stayed on and enjoyed a good game of pinochle. I did not win but had a lot of fun. We had Hobby Club there on Thursday so also took advantage of the coolness.
Ardie was in New York to attend her granddaughter’s graduation and she reported it rained about all the time she was there. So it wasn’t much better than our situation. I guess one cannot guess what the weather is going to do.
I don’t think I have ever seen the corn in the fields develop as fast as it has done this year. They are a beautiful green and waving in the wind so gently. I happened to have a ride in the country one evening this past week and I just marveled over the beautiful fields. I guess warm weather and high humidity is good for corn even though humans have to suffer through it.
I have been going through a lot of pictures that I have taken in the past years. I hope you do not make the same mistakes that I have done by not putting the names of the person or persons on the back of the photo and even the date is very important too. I taught Sunday school for many years and always carried a camera in my purse. I took lots of pictures of my students especially the little ones who were in the “Angel Choir” at holiday time. Now they have grown up and I do not know whom they are. What a big mistake I made. I guess one learns by the mistakes you make.
Are you ready to celebrate the Fourth of July? I’m sure looking forward to my Fried Chicken, which was a must on that special Day. Now it won’t be long and school bells will be ringing. Mom used to say “after the Fourth, it was time to get the sewing Machine going—making the kids school clothes.” Now it is a trip to the big City to buy new outfits.
My La Porte City personality to remember this week is Harry Heacock who was the school janitor in my time. REMEMBER WHEN?
