Eugenia M. Sears - 06/17/2010

Eugenia Mae Sears, 80, of rural La Porte City, died June 17, 2010, at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo. Eugenia was born May 25, 1930, at home in rural La Porte City, the daughter of Dave and Ferna Elliott Vanderheyden. She received her education in Geneseo where she graduated in 1947. She continued her education at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and then taught at Eldora.

On July 10, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Sears at the Geneseo United Methodist Church. They made their home on a farm where they raised their family. She later returned to teaching and was Librarian at the La Porte City School for 23 years.

She is survived by her husband Kenneth; two daughters, Margaret (Kevin) Perrinjaquet of Edgewood and Rhonda (Myron) Jack of Victor; one son, Kevin Sears of Albuquerque, NM; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held June 21, 2010, at the Geneseo United Methodist Church in rural Buckingham, with private burial at the Spencer Cemetery, rural Buckingham.
