Larry E. Moody - 06/18/2010

Larry E. Moody, 67, of La Porte City, died June 18, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of heart failure following surgery.

He was born September 19, 1942, in Waterloo, the son of William and Lucille Helmick Moody. He married Colleen Thome on June 2, 1962, in Gilbertville.

He worked as a motorcycle mechanic for Weber’s Cycle Center for 17 years and then worked as transportation director for La Porte City Schools for 16 years. After retirement Larry owned Buy Rite Motors in La Porte City. He enjoyed his annual Father’s Day motorcycle trips and sports cars.

Larry is survived by his wife, Colleen of La Porte City; two sons, Keith (Brandy) Moody of Harrisonville, MO, Mark Moody of La Porte City; two daughters, Roxanne (Hank) Theiss of Chantilly, VA, Lindeanne (Roy) Underwood of Coppell, TX; three grandchildren with a fourth expected in September, Travis Underwood, Amanda Underwood, Olivia Moody; three brothers, Ronnie (Mary) Moody of La Porte City, Bill (Kathy) Moody of Cedar Rapids, Dennis (Sally) Moody of Mount Auburn and two sisters, Caroline Snyder of Waterloo and Kay (Oddie) Hook of La Porte City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Rodney Moody and two sisters, Nancy Moody and Joyce Shelton.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held June 22, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial in the West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City.

Memorials may be directed to the family, where a memorial fund will be established at a later date.
