Eugene A. Juhl - 06/25/2010

Eugene A. Juhl, age 77, of Waterloo and formerly of La Porte City, died Friday, June 25, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

He was born May 8, 1933, in Cedar Falls, the son of Alfred C. and Margaret (Jorgensen) Juhl. He married Shirley I. Hild on September 24, 1953, in Cedar Falls. They were later divorced.

Eugene worked at the Rath Packing Co. in Waterloo for 32½ years. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict and a member of the VFW Normandy Post #3983 in La Porte City for more than 50 years.

Survivors include his former wife, Shirley Juhl of La Porte City; a daughter, Helen (Steven) Adair of Reinbeck; five sons, Anthony (Valerie) Juhl of Cedar Falls, Tom Juhl and his special friend Glenda Palmer of La Porte City, Roy Juhl of Waterloo, Gary (Patricia) Juhl of La Porte City and Timothy Juhl of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; one great granddaughter; a brother James (Joy) Juhl of Kansas City, MO and two nephews.

Eugene was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held June 30, 2010, at the American Lutheran Church with burial in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City with full military honors by La Porte City San Diego American Legion Post #207 and V.F.W. Normandy Post #3983.
