Randi Rokke Releases New CD, Tell the Story
By TPR News Desk, 09/25/2009
After many years in the music world of teaching, directing and accompanying, Randi Rokke has released her first recording, entitled “Tell the Story.” The CD is a collection of seventeen well-known hymns, arranged and performed by her on solo piano. The album, recorded at Catamount Studio in Cedar Falls, Iowa, was inspired by family members, as well as special people and occasions through the years.
Randi has been involved in music since she was quite young. She spent many of her early years in Brazil and then moved to North Dakota, where she graduated from Bismarck High School. Following high school, Randi pursued postsecondary music education at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. While there she studied under several voice and piano instructors. She also sang in the Concordia Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Paul J. Christianson and toured with the choir as it performed in the United States and Norway. Randi graduated in 1979, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree, with majors in both Music Education and Religion.
Randi and her husband, Reverend Doug Rokke, live in La Porte City, Iowa. They have served congregations in Driscoll, Mott and Williston, North Dakota and are the parents of three children, Marti, Nelson and Kirsten.
Through the years, Randi has directed many choirs involving a wide range of ages and abilities. She has arranged hymns and choral anthems to fit the sound of the children’s, youth, men’s and SATB choirs under her direction.
An educator at heart, Randi has taught more than 400 individuals, children and adults alike, sharing her love of music. Currently, Randi has 44 students she teaches out of her home studio.
Randi’s piano skills have also been shared with the congregations she’s served at many weddings and funerals. She feels privileged to share her musical gifts as a ministry for people during their times of “greatest joys and deepest sorrows.”
Having thought about recording her music for many years, Randi recorded “Tell the Story,” at the urging of her family and friends. The CD is available locally in La Porte City at Sunshine Florals & Gifts ($12.95) and The Rusty Pig.
Her second recording, “Joy,” which will be released in November 2009, is a collection of 13 Christmas hymns performed on solo piano. Visit Randi at randirokke.com or send email to:
