A benefit to assist the Roger and Kristi Struve family of Mt. Auburn is planned for Sunday, October 18. From 8 – 11 am, volunteers will serve an omelet breakfast at the La Porte City Golf Club. Suggested donations will be $6 per person. The breakfast will include an omelet, made to your specifications, and toasted muffins. Breakfast beverages will also be provided.
At 1 pm, the public is invited to participate in a two-person best shot Golf Tournament. Donations for the tournament are $50 per couple with pre-registration a requirement. For those wishing a golf cart an additional cost will be added to the tournament donation. Cart reservations must be made prior to October 11. Please call the La Porte City Golf Club at 342-2249 for tournament sign-up.
During the day a 50/50 raffle will also be held and a free will donation jar will be on site as well.
Assistance for set up, serving, cleanup and also of food items for the breakfast, may be made by contacting Penny Ribble at 319-290-6649 or by email to bp.ribble@mchsi.com.
Volunteers will be needed from 6:30 am through cleanup, and will be split into shifts. 100% of all donations made to this event will be given to the Struve family to assist in mounting medical expenses as well as general expenses incurred by the family during Kristi’s lengthy hospital stay and continued dialysis.
Kristi has been a patient at the University of Hospitals in Iowa City since early summer, suffering from kidney and liver failure. She also suffers from pancreatitis. Just last week she was moved to Ravenwood Rehab and Nursing Center in Waterloo for continued care and treatment which also allows her to be closer to her friends and family. She receives dialysis five days a week.
Kristi is owner of I Care Nursing in La Porte City and is also a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Her husband, Roger, is employed with Young Plumbing and Heating. The couple, who has three children, resides in Mt. Auburn.
Organizing this event is Penny Ribble and friends of Kristi and Roger.
