All-State Honors for Union Musical Theatre Group

A Union High School musical theatre entry in the Iowa High School Speech Association Large Group Contest has been chosen to perform at the All-State Festival on February 20^th. The cast of “Civil War” was performed by Michael Wauters, Casey Ewald, TJ Gray, Robert Swestka, KJ Bader, and Casey Tecklenburg at the Schemen building on the campus of Iowa State University. Out of all of the high schools in the state, only 20 entries are chosen for this honor each year. The musical theatre entries at Union are coached by Tim J. Mitchell and Korina Carlson.  

What makes this speech contest unique is the fact that all schools in the state compete against each other, regardless of the size of student bodies. There are no classifications such as the ones in Iowa high school athletics. In the past nine years, 20 of Union's 26 entries in Musical Theatre have received this honor, a remarkable achievement.
