Union Falls to Center Point in District Play, 15-6

On July 16th the Union Baseball team traveled to Vinton to face Center Point-Urbana in first round District action. CP-U jumped on top 3-0 after two innings, but Union scored three of their own in the top of the third to tie it up. The inning was led off by a walk to Hunter Zempel and Cory Feldpouch reaching on an error. Will Crees followed up with a base hit to score Zempel. Garrett Prestemon followed up with a double, plating Feldpouch and Crees.

CP-U responded right away, scoring eight in the bottom of the third inning. Union scored one in the top of the fourth, as Trev Hadachek reached on a base on balls and later scored following a Feldpouch single. Union tacked on another run in the fifth as Reid Monroe reached on a walk and scored on a Blake Clark double. CP-U added five runs in the bottom of the fifth to end the game, 15-6.

Feldpouch, Crees, Prestemon, and Clark all had hits for the Knights. Clark and Prestemon saw action on the mound with Clark taking the loss.

Union finishes the season 5-9 in conference play and 6-23 overall. With a young team and everyone returning, the team looks to make great strides next season.
