"Will You Tell Them About Jesus?"

"You will be His witness to all men of what you have seen and heard." (Acts 22:15 NIV)

We are in the season of Lent; Easter will be here in a couple weeks. Those who believe in Jesus Christ will use this time for prayer, fasting, and general preparation to celebrate this greatest event in all of history, the defeat of sin and death by God’s Son, Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, those who do not believe remain dead in their sins. There are millions of them. They are members of our families, neighborhoods and communities. Some have heard of Christ but have not accepted His call to become part of His family. Others have not heard of Him. What’s God going to do about all those who have not been saved?

The short answer is that God has done all He is going to do. He planned for the redemption of the world before it was even created. He solved the sin problem by sending His Son to die on the cross and then raising Him from the dead. He created His Church, a fellowship of believers, to preach and teach the gospel of salvation through faith in Christ. He has grown that Church and protected it so the message of salvation will get spread to all people groups. God has done everything that was needed to provide for the salvation of every human being.

In spite of what God has done, all people are not saved. Tragically, many die every day without being saved. For the Church, i.e. those who have put their faith in Jesus, we have work to do.

The Church was put into place to witness for Jesus Christ, to lift up His Name so His Spirit could do a work on the hearts of the unbeliever. It hasn’t always done the best job of witnessing for Christ but there is still much work to be done. We were called to be His witnesses to all people of what Christ has done for us.

Jesus came to seek and to save that which was lost. During this season of Lent, prayer, fasting and preparation to celebrate what God did to give us life are important. But let’s not forget that there are millions still lost. Some of them we see everyday. As a believer, will you tell them about Jesus?
