Dorothy Margaret (Fincham) Wingert, 96, of Fredericktown, Missouri, formerly of La Porte City, died January 8, 2010, of natural causes at her residence at Ozark Manor Retirement Center.

She was born October 25, 1913, in Gilbert, IA, daughter of Charles and Mabel Fincham. She married Harold R. Wingert on June 22, 1935, in the Rose Gardens at Iowa State University in Ames. Harold died September 12, 1994.

Dorothy received her Home Economics degree in 1935 from ISU and enjoyed many years later in life working as a World Book Encyclopedia sales rep in the Cedar Valley area. She and Harold farmed near La Porte City and Garrison from 1952-1974, prior to retiring.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn (Dean) Arbuckle of Eureka Springs, AR; a daughter, Kathie (John) Thompson of Fredericktown, Mo. and a son, Bruce (Joann) of Cedar Falls; three sisters; nine grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband and a brother Robert C. Fincham.

A "Celebration of Life" memorial service will be held 11:30 AM Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home in Cedar Falls, preceded by an hour of visitation. Her body was cremated.

Since some of Dorothy's fondest memories in life were of her days at ISU coupled with her green thumb and insatiable love of African Violets, memorials may be directed to the family (420 Cordoba Ave., Cedar Falls, IA 50613) for donation to the Iowa State University's Reiman Gardens.

Condolences may be left at bwingert@cfu.net.
