Patricia R. Rice, age 81, of La Porte City, died February 19, 2010, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Patricia was born March 5, 1928, in Waterloo, the daughter of William John and Anne Belle (Ladd) Britton. She married Robert L. Rice on October 28, 1954, in Cedar Rapids. Robert preceded her in death on June 24, 1990.

She was a homemaker and an active member of Heartland Community Church and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in La Porte City. Patricia was a hard working woman who loved to grow and maintain large vegetable and flower gardens.

She is survived by two sons, Charles (Sandy) Smith of Wilson, NC, and William (Cathy) Rice of Cedar Falls; three daughters, Ruth Ann (Monte) Knudson of Marshalltown, Diana Rickard of Calmar, and Joanne (Scott) Pohl of Walcott; 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Ann Webster of Waterloo and Rita Baglio of North Reading, MA.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband Robert; a daughter, Barb McKinney; 4 brothers, Bill, Frank, Roy, and David Britton and 4 sisters, Amy Meyer, Mattie Creel, Florence Heins and Jean Britton.

Funeral services were held February 23 at Heartland Community Church in La Porte City with burial in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
