News » Local » Seeking Help to Raise Flags in Observance of Independence Day

Volunteers are asked to meet at West View cemetery at 6 PM on Friday, July 3 to help La Porte City American Legion and VFW members raise the Avenue of Flags, for the final time this year. If twenty people help, the job only takes about half an hour. You do not have to be a Legion or VFW member to assist in this project; silver cord hours are available for students. Help will again be needed at 6 PM Monday, July 6, to lower the flags. Drive by the Avenue of Flags over the holiday weekend and give thanks to those who have given for our country’s freedom.
