Three incumbents are seeking re-election for four year terms to the Union Community School Board. Candidates for the three seats are: Director At-Large - Jim Barz of La Porte City; Director District 1 - James Bronner of La Porte City and Director District 2 - Denny Bart Frush of rural La Porte City. The lone candidate to fill the vacancy of Ryan Moody of Dysart, Director District 3, is former school board member Deb Oliver of Dysart. The term of Director District 3 will expire in 2011.

 

The polling places for the 2009 School Board Election will be open from 12:00 noon until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8. The Union School District is divided into two election precincts which are as follows:

   Precinct 1 - Dysart Community Building, 418 Main St, Dysart

   Precinct 2 - Union (DG-LPC) High School, 200 Adams St, La Porte City

 

Precinct 1 includes the following areas: City of Dysart, Geneseo, Clark & Oneida Twps. in Tama County; Monroe & Homer Twps. in Benton County, while Precinct 2 includes the following areas: City of La Porte City, City of Mt. Auburn, Jefferson Twp. in Buchanan County; Bruce Twp. in Benton County; Eagle, Cedar, Poyner, Fox, Big Creek & Spring Creek Twps. in Black Hawk County.
