The All-Iowa Honor Dance Team is making its 28th appearance at the Girls State Basketball Tournament. Union High School Dance team members Chandler Zeien and Kelsi Hilmer will be performing with the All-Iowa Honor squad on March 5 and 6 at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. One hundred teams are represented in this year’s All-Iowa Honor Dance Team. Over 500 dancers auditioned at Ames High School last fall for the 276 positions. All schools are members of the Iowa State Dance/Drill Team Association. Fifty dancers will perform the pre-game both Friday and Saturday nights featuring a basketball prop routine followed by a patriotic salute with the fifty state flags. The halftime group is composed of 224 dancers who will perform at the halftime of the 3A Championship game on Saturday night, March 6. The halftime group will be performing a program involving pom and kick. Choreographers are Jackie Aguiniga, Betty Baker, Andrea Dana, Jackie Morse and Lois Turnage. Coordinator of the All-Iowa Honor Dance Team is Kathy Enyart. The Union Dance team instructor is Anne Sherwood.
